What happens if your NC driver's permit expires?

can you just go to the DMV and automatically get a liscense?|||You should probably call the DMV and find out what their rules are for this kind of circumstance, or look at their website and see if they have this question covered in a FAQ.|||you take your drivers test and if your old enough you go and get your license....|||I think you'd have to take a road test to get a license... a permit isn't just a "waiting game"...|||yes i think you can go n search on google search drivers permit expires how to get new one|||No, you have to take the test to get the license. You will have to get another permit first. NC is like that.|||You go to the DMV and apply for a renewal.

They will check your national file to make sure you haven't been issued a license in another state, and to make sure you don't have any outstanding NC tickets or warrants.

You pay the fee, take a new picture, and you're good to go.|||you have to stand in line for hours at the DMV for a number. THen you will have to wait in line until your number is called. Then get to ask your question and they will send you to get another number so you stand in line again for a number for the renewal line. THen you wait and wait for hours until they call you. One number before you....oh all of the sudden its thier lunch break. So they shut down for 5 hours to take a nap after the eat. THen you have to pay like 50 bucks for a new license. Its that simple.|||i checked dmv north carolina and it didn't say anything on their website about expired licenses so go ahead and give them a call
