My boyfriend got pulled and his insurance was lapsed but his license was not revocked how much cost in NC.?

it was in NC any fees both DMV and court would be great help from anyone in nc. and also if he just wants to pull this car off the road and not reinsur it or drive it ?? They already took his plate but he has another car that is insured. any info would be helpful|||most likely he will have to pay a $50 fine for the lapse in ins coverage plus they will not give his plate back for 30 days. then he will pay fines for that too. then he will also have a no insurance ticket on his record so when he gets insurance it will be higher. if he has another car insured, why was the 1st one not on the policy as well?
