NC dmv wont let me take drivers test.. HELP!!?

they said i have to be added on my husbands insurance policy but my car has va tags and they dont add people until they have a license what can i do any suggestions as to what i can do?|||are you confusing vehichle registration/licensing with your operator's license?


You do have to show proof of ins. to register your car, but you can get an operators license w/o even owning a car, as long as the car you take the driving test in is licensed and insured, there should not be a problem.





Try going to the license office early in the morning before the people in the office have gotten frazzled, and you will find them much more helpful. be polite and make sure all your questions are answered before you leave the office (if they can't answer your question, ask them to tell you who can).|||in the state of north carolina,you must have a proof of insurance form to obtain drivers license

Have bureaucracy A talk to bureaucracy B and hash it out between themselves, as you will need an exception from one of them. I have found that this is more likely if one of the bureaucrats hears from a fellow bureaucrat how inflexible their rules are. They don't like bending the rules, but they seem to like talking to each other.|||That smacks of pure sexism...I can't believe NC/DMV is treating you like THAT!...at least in CA, the DMV doesn't care...|||In NC, you cannot be licensed without showing proof of insurance. You need a form from an insurance company called a DL-123 to do this.





I'm assuming your husband is in NC and has NC registration and tags on his vehicle and is insured in NC? He can have you added as an out-of-state driver to his policy. Most NC companies give you time to obtain your NC license (at my company, you have 90 days).





He can have you added as an out-of-state driver, and then they can issue you the DL-123 form you need to show as proof of insurance at the DMV to get licensed. Once you are licensed, call the company back and give them your driver's license number, they'll update the policy, and you're set!





Now if your car is registered and tagged in VA, you will need to get it registered in NC and get NC tags put on it before the CAR can be added to your husband's NC insurance policy.





In conclusion, you can be added NOW. Your car can be added after it is properly registered and tagged.
